Russian Oil tanker's Grounding Sparks Largest Oil Spill in History off Oman's Coast  A Russian tanker ship is threatening an oil spill off Oman's coast, with a tanker that has been grounded for two months since an explosion that likely caused by a collision. The tanker ship Caroline Bezengi, which was carrying one million barrels of Russian crude oil to the Asian market, ran aground near the Qiblah island in Oman after a blast is believed to have been caused by a collision. The spill has been found to be enormous and exceeds all previous major oil spills. The oil spill is measured at 20 miles long with an area of 600 square kilometers. According to Greenpeace, it's one of the biggest pollution incidents in history. The oil damage is causing devastating consequences for nature reserves. Beaches on several nearby islands have already been affected by the oil, as well as a number of sensitive coral reefs. Coral reefs are so sensitive that they can disappear within a 30-year time frame. This type of damage has never happened before. For the first time with a large oil spill, authorities are prepared, but strong winds and currents may force beaches to clean up the mess on their own. In recent days, there have been strong southwest winds in Oman, which has pushed the oil from Caroline Bezengi towards the mainland coast. The oil is causing huge damage to shipping, marine life, land, and vegetation. Oil is toxic and causes numerous deaths as well as long-term health effects for marine animals. The oxygen levels in the water decrease when an oil spill forms a layer on top of the surface, preventing it from mixing with air. When the oil breaks down, sulfur is produced as a result. The extent of the damage is extreme, and pollution levels are so high that they may be irreparable. A catastrophic situation has been created due to the difficulty in cleaning up and rescuing affected areas. Following reports came out, Omani authorities claimed they were not prepared to handle the spill, despite it measuring 600 square kilometers. Caroline Bezengi is one of them. However, he also acknowledges that a diplomatic solution is necessary in the long run. Cohen's vision is to educate the children in Gaza so they can become human beings, not terrorists. He hopes that one day, Israel can put an end to its military presence in Gaza and work towards a peaceful resolution. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with two million residents living in cramped conditions without access to basic necessities like housing, food, sanitation, and healthcare. The World Bank's development program has described the situation as "foul" due to the lack of infrastructure and resources. Netanyahu's rejection of the plan has sparked concerns that the conflict will continue indefinitely. Cohen agrees, stating that Israel cannot live in a state of constant war and violence.
