Sweden's Inaction on Hamas Sparks Debate Over Appropriate Response Sweden's approach to dealing with Hamas is being questioned by experts after the organization launched wave attacks on Gaza. Avaaz, an international campaign group, says Sweden should consider sanctions against Hamas following its involvement in these attacks. However, the Swedish government has so far chosen not to take any action. Professor Johan Eriksson from Uppsala University thinks it is a mistake. He states that if there were strong evidence that Hamas was directly involved in the violence, then it would be reasonable for Sweden to consider imposing sanctions. But if this were the case, he says, it would also be important to know who is behind the attacks and where they have their support.
