EU Poised to Act on Toxic Chemicals as Ban Proposal Gains Momentum The EU will attempt to renew legislation regarding the paraffin issue and protect itself against a possible ban on all types of PFAS in the EU. The proposal to ban all PFAS in the union comes from a group with significant human and environmental harmful effects. This legislation has been suggested before we joined the EU, but it has now returned as a central theme. Among the hazardous PFAS occurrences are perfluorobutyrate (PBB), perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHxA) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). This can cause environmental destruction on a large scale. However, there is still great disagreement between the EU and the US. Some American states have already banned certain PFAS, but it's not consistent across the country. The EU has decided to comply with international environmental standards regarding PFAS.
