Vasterbotten Leaders Journey to China Twelve leaders from the Vasterbotten region in northern Sweden have chosen to visit China and meet with President Xi Jinping during a two-day trip in October. The leaders come from the Swedish region of Vasterbotten, which has a strong regional identity and is perhaps the most interesting part of the country. Among the participating leaders are Anders Carlbom, who chairs the Vasternorrlands län council, and Peter Gummesson, who represents the municipalities of Holmstrand and Sandviken. The leaders will visit China and participate in a three-day conference on relations between Sweden and China. See article on SVT News.
Pakistan & Taliban: A Long-Standing Rift Pakistan and the Taliban have developed an intense and often conflict-ridden relationship over several decades. This phenomenon has led to the United States and NATO's successful relocation of Taliban leadership from Afghanistan outside its borders in 2001 through invasion. However, in March 2020, the Taliban returned to power after a deal with the US, and since then, the relation between Islamabad and Kabul has become increasingly unstable. Pakistan is one of the largest supporters of the Afghan Islamic Council (Taliban), which implies that it stands behind the Taliban-written constitution proposed for Afghanistan's implementation. This has resulted in an increase in conflicts between Islamabad and Kabul, as the new government's leaders do not align with Pakistan's expectations. See article on SVT News.
