Sources: Pentagon deploys 1,500 soldiers to Minnesota. The Army has ordered the troops to prepare for deployment in case the violence escalates, according to anonymous sources.
The information comes after President Donald Trump earlier this week threatened to invoke the old Insurrection Act to curb protests against the immigration police ICE, which recently shot two people in Minnesota's largest city, Minneapolis – one of them fatally.
The 1807 Insurrection Act gives a U.S. president the authority under certain circumstances to deploy the military to suppress uprisings or maintain law and order.
Invoking the law is usually considered a last resort when the police alone cannot handle civil unrest. It has not been used since 1992, when George Bush invoked it during the riots in Los Angeles. See the article on SVT Nyheter.

State-run Iranian channels were hacked. Several state-run Iranian TV channels were hacked on Sunday, reports UK-based opposition outlet Iran International.
The ongoing programs were replaced with clips of 'Crown Prince' Reza Pahlavi, who lives in exile in the US and has been pointed to as a possible successor to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The TV programs were also replaced with footage from the widespread protests that have been taking place in the country for three weeks, where several human rights organizations have reported thousands of deaths. See the article on SVT News.
