Looks like the tax burden is about to start to ease in Istanbul.
Türkiye. 53-year-old Ekrem Imamoglu was elected mayor of Turkey's largest city, Istanbul, in 2019.
On Wednesday, Imamoglu was arrested, his associates told AFP. These include corruption allegations. "The prosecutor says that he is the leader of a criminal organization," says SVT's Turkey correspondent Tomas Thorén. Watch the feature on SVT News.

Thousands in Istanbul protested against the mayor's arrest. He was arrested by riot police on charges of fraud, bribery, terrorism and money laundering. Arrest warrants have been issued for another hundred from Imamoglu's CHP party. Watch the feature on TV4 News.
