U.S. rejects plan for Gaza: "Trump stands firm" The White House rejects the proposal on Gaza's future that leaders of the Arab League agreed on in Cairo on Tuesday.
The plan does not reflect the fact that Gaza is currently uninhabitable and that the population cannot live in a place covered in debris and unexploded ordnance, argues Brian Hughes, spokesman for the White House Security Council. The plan agreed by Arab leaders calls for a transitional government in Gaza in order to preserve the prospects for a two-state solution. According to a draft, the goal is to hold elections in the Palestinian territories within a year.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has supported the Arab League's initiative. See the article on SVT Nyheter.
