Joe Biden pardons his son Hunter Biden. Outgoing US President Joe Biden pardons his son Hunter Biden, who has previously been convicted of weapons offences, among other things, despite promising to "never" do so. The pardon also applies to "crimes in the United States that he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period January 1, 2014 to December 1, 2024."
Hunter Biden was convicted of illegal possession of a weapon after he lied about his drug use when he applied for a license for the weapon. In September, he also pleaded guilty to tax evasion during the years 2016-2019. For the tax offense, Hunter Biden risked up to 17 years in prison and the weapons offense was punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Watch the feature on SVT News.
