Syria. At least 1,000 people, including at least 745 civilians from the Alawite minority, have been killed in Syria in recent days, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). "They have gone from door to door, groups of armed men and asked for Alawites," says freelance journalist Lina Malers, who is on site in northeast Syria to SVT Nyheter.
In unverified video material, which is circulating on social media, there are dozens of dead people wearing civilian clothes. Another video shows people in security uniforms executing people and brutally beating detainees.

The United States condemns the violence in Syria. The U.S. is now calling on Syrian authorities to hold the "radical Islamist terrorists" accountable after over 700 civilians were killed in Syria, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, according to Reuters.
"The United States condemns the radical Islamist terrorists, including foreign jihadists, who murdered people in western Syria in recent days," Marco Rubio said, according to Reuters.
