Trump calls a meeting on the Venezuela conflict. Trump will hold a meeting on the tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela around 11 p.m. Swedish time, the White House confirms. Meanwhile, three members of Congress accuse Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of war crimes following a previous ship attack.
Since September, the U.S. has carried out several attacks on alleged drug boats along the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific coast. More than 80 people are reported to have been killed. Critics claim that the attacks violate international law because they took place in international waters and lack a clear legal basis.
During the escalation between the countries, the U.S. has increased its presence of military resources in the region. More than a dozen warships are deployed as part of the Pentagon's operation.
