'Just a few minutes ago, we shot at a ship loaded with tons of drugs,' he said.In recent weeks, the conflict between the USA and Venezuela has escalated. At a press conference on Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated that American warships equipped with missiles have approached Venezuela's coast. He claimed that they are facing the greatest threat to Latin America in 100 years and has previously expressed concern that the USA is preparing for an invasion.According to the USA, the operations aim to combat drugs and organized crime, as well as to secure the southern border. Donald Trump has accused Maduro of leading a drug cartel and previously in August promised a hefty reward for anyone who can provide information leading to the president's arrest. Jair Bolsonaro on trial – accused of coup plans. The now 70-year-old Bolsonaro denies the allegations and claims that he only sought legal avenues within the constitution to challenge an election he alleges was rigged without evidence. If convicted, Bolsonaro faces up to 43 years in prison. He is already banned from running for office until 2030, but a new verdict could permanently close the door to future political positions.The case has also become a diplomatic conflict.
