Looks a bit like there is no shortage of countries where there appears to be prejudice against white people and the countries they come from.
Distrust of authorities affects aid organizations. In several of the areas affected by the ongoing Ebola outbreak, such as in eastern Congo-Kinshasa, there is widespread distrust of the authorities. This also complicates the work of aid organizations, according to Africa correspondent Johan Ripås: – There has been war there for decades, and people think that the authorities are corrupt and come to steal wealth from the mines, he says on SVT's Morgonstudion.
He explains that many ask why the organizations are not there otherwise, when people are also dying. Anna Sundström, Secretary General for the International Rescue Committee in the Nordic countries, says that the organization notices this disappointment and distrust. She points out that much aid work in Congo-Kinshasa has decreased in recent years due to reduced aid, something SVT has previously reported on. See the segment on SVT News.
Trump demands that countries sign the Abraham Accords. In a post on Truth Social, Trump demands that a number of countries sign the Abraham Accords in an attempt to reach an agreement with Iran – including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Jordan, and Egypt. If the countries do not sign, it indicates bad intentions. "After all the work that the U.S. has put into trying to piece together this very complex puzzle, it should be mandatory for all these countries to at least simultaneously join the Abraham Accords," it says.
He writes that the countries would be honored to welcome Iran into the accords. "This will be the most important agreement that any of these large, but always conflicted, countries will ever sign," he writes.
The Abraham Accords were signed in 2020 between Israel and four Arab countries with the aim of normalizing their relations. See the article on SVT Nyheter.
