Military: 51,000 Russian sliding bombs in the war. Russia has used 51,000 glide bombs against Ukraine since the invasion began in 2022, of which 40,000 are said to have been used in 2024, the Ukrainian Air Force writes on Telegram: "The highest number of casualties has been inflicted on Ukrainian soldiers and residents of the frontline regions."

The bombs have been used on a number of occasions against Ukrainian cities deeper inside the country. They have been difficult for the Ukrainians to counter as they have often been fired from Russian airspace beyond the range of the air defense.

However, the use of the weapon seems to have decreased. This is after Ukraine in November was given the green light to attack targets, such as military air bases, inside Russia with missiles from the West. See the article on SVT Nyheter.
