Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is close to stopping. The war in Iran has caused maritime traffic through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz to nearly come to a halt. On Monday, only two oil and chemical tankers passed through the strait, according to data from S&P Global Commodities at Sea shared with CNN. This can be compared to five ships on Sunday and normally around 60 tankers per day. Approximately one fifth of the world's daily oil consumption is transported through the strait.
