Citizen from Pakistan suspected of assassination plot against Donald Trump. The U.S. Department of Justice writes in a statement that the man is said to have close ties to Iran.

The man is said to have flown from Pakistan to the United States and contacted a person who he thought could help with the arrangement, after which the person contacted American authorities. As a result, the man instead tried to recruit hitmen who turned out to be FBI agents working undercover, and made it possible for the man to be brought to justice. FBI Director Christopher Wray describes the assassination plot as "straight out of the Iranian playbook." Watch the feature on SVT News.

 

 

 

United Kingdom: 6,000 special police officers are deployed. Demonstrations against immigration and Islam continue in cities around the country. A total of 400 people have now been arrested, according to the British police.

Three girls were stabbed to death last Monday. Right-wing groups went out to demonstrate the day after the attack.

In Plymouth on Monday evening, a group of demonstrators and counter-demonstrators clashed. A police officer told Sky News that the situation in Plymouth was "derailed" and that three police officers were injured. Similar scenes have taken place in Bristol, Manchester and Belfast, among other places.
