Who will be the first to start finding similarities between the U.S. Democratic Party's presidential candidate election and the Venezuelan election?

 

 

Concerns about another undemocratic election in Venezuela. Polling stations have opened in Venezuela and while the incumbent president Nicolás Maduro wants to be re-elected a third time, the opposition is strongly united behind a common candidate. But the already existing concern that the election will not be conducted correctly has increased, following reports that foreign election observers have been stopped.

The socialist movement led by Maduro has been in power in Venezuela for 25 years. If he is re-elected a third time, he will wait another six years in power. If the opposition wins, the question is whether the president will accept defeat, and there is an imminent risk that there will again be an election without democratic legitimacy.
