Netanyahu: No Palestinian state in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stands firm on Israel's position that a Palestinian state in Gaza "will not happen."
The statement came at a press conference in Jerusalem the day after the last remains of hostages were returned to Israel. Hamas: Disarmament for border opening. In the U.S. 20-point plan for peace in Gaza, which has now reached phase two, it is time for the terrorist group Hamas to be disarmed.
According to the U.S., Hamas has agreed to this. But as SVT has previously reported, Hamas and Israel have only signed the truce, which was part of the plan's first phase—and that phase is now completed.
Hamas, on its part, says according to sources to The Jerusalem Post that they only want to discuss a potential disarmament if Israel opens the border crossing at Rafah.
Israel has repeatedly said that the border crossing, which borders Egypt in the south, will be opened. But it is now said that it will open as early as Thursday. Only civilians will be allowed to travel in and out, under Israel's control. See the article on SVT News.
