Food crisis theme

Has Russia arranged an infection that has the potential to decimate the world's population so that those who remain won't have to starve?

Ukrainian export routes blocked – farmers can't sell their harvest. The recent attacks on civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea risk throwing the world into a food crisis. Right now, very few ships dare to go up to the Ukrainian ports to load grain, and a near-total halt of civilian sea traffic in the area is expected. Our reporters met with a farmer outside Odessa who hasn't been able to sell his wheat harvest because the export routes are blocked by Russia. Watch the segment on TV4 News.

WHO wants more information from Russia about the infection. The World Health Organization (WHO) is urging Russia to provide additional information following reports of plague infections in the country.

A female laboratory worker died at a hospital in the Irkutsk region in eastern Siberia. According to Russian media reports, she contracted pneumonic plague, which authorities in the country deny. They state that she died of pneumonia.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on Russia to be fully transparent about the incident.

Russian authorities have said that no cases of plague have been detected and that they have taken the relevant measures, according to WHO. They also want answers regarding media reports claiming that a second worker was infected, which are reports that have not been confirmed anywhere. See the article on SVT Nyheter.
