More talking animals than women over 60 in film. Animals that talk and men with the first name Chris appear more often in blockbuster films than women over 60, a new report shows.
A glaring lack of roles for older women has long been a problem. And it doesn't look like it's changing. Of the 100 most successful films between 2023 and 2025, 20 featured talking animals, six featured an actor with the first name Chris – but only five had a woman over 60 in a leading role.
