Doesn't seem to be any need to investigate connections to Epstein in Iran.
Sources: Khamenei's son appointed as Iran's supreme leader. Iran's Experts Council chose Ali Khamenei's son Mojtaba Khamenei as the next supreme leader under pressure from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, sources told Iran International.
Earlier on Tuesday, an Israeli defense source stated that Israel carried out an attack on the Iranian city of Qom in order to disrupt the meeting where the country's Experts Council had gathered to appoint a new supreme leader. According to the source, the attack took place while the votes were being counted.
Mojtaba is the second eldest son of Ali Khamenei and has long been described as a behind-the-scenes power factor. He is religiously educated in Qom and is said to have close ties to the Revolutionary Guard as well as the paramilitary militia Basij.
Although he has lacked formal top positions, he has been regarded as influential, including during the protests following the 2009 presidential election, and has been subject to international sanctions. See the article on SVT News.
Norway appoints Epstein commission. Norway will appoint an independent review commission to investigate Norwegian connections to the convicted sex offender, reports NRK with reference to a press release from the Norwegian Parliament, Stortinget.
It concerns connections between Epstein and Norwegian authorities, but also organizations, foundations, and networks in which Norway has been involved.
In order to be able to access all relevant information, it is proposed that a special law be drafted to be able to investigate and have powers similar to the police, according to the press release.
