The prosecutor tells the radio channel France Info that they are investigating all forms of traces of the jewelry on the 'parallel market.' They are looking into whether the jewelry could be used for money laundering or as currency for something, reports AP. Fake images of the jewel thieves are spreading online. Images purportedly showing two of the suspected jewel thieves have sparked a meme frenzy online because of the thieves' appearance. But now fact-checking has shown that the images are fake, with one of the people being a well-known actor.According to the fact-checking site snopes.com, the images come from a satire website, and one of the images appears to show one of the actors from the TV series Gossip Girl.
