Romania shuts down nuclear reactor. Romania will shut down the second nuclear reactor in Cernavoda on Thursday due to low water levels in the Danube, Reuters reports, citing local authorities. Last week, attempts were made to improve the water flow to the country's only nuclear power plant through blasting. The nuclear plant accounts for about 20 percent of the country's electricity supply, Reuters writes. Electricity production in Romania has decreased, and people have been urged to reduce consumption during August.
