Which EU citizen will be the first to propose that a tariff could be introduced for merchant ships from nations that cause damage to cables when the ships pass in/out of the Baltic Sea to cover the costs of operational disruptions and repairs to the cables?

 

 

Yet another cable break in the Baltic Sea. There has been an outage in the Estlink 2 power cable between Finland and Estonia, according to the network operator Fingrid. According to Fingrid, the connection was cut at half past one on Wednesday afternoon, Finnish time. The disturbance is being investigated.

Interruption of the electricity cable between Finland and Estonia. There has been an outage in the Estlink 2 power cable between Finland and Estonia.

According to the ship tracking site Vesselfinder, the Hong Kong-flagged ship Xin Xin Tian 2 has passed through the area, on its way from St. Petersburg to Alexandria. The ship passed the cable at 12.26, which is the same time as the outage on Estlink 2 occurred. Watch the feature on SVT News.
