The event has sparked a debate about betrayal within the Democrats, says SVT's U.S. correspondent Carl Fridh Kleberg. The reaction is furious in parts of the party. Those who voted with the Republicans are condemned as traitors and the outcome seen as a capitulation. They did not get what they demanded. And with a year until the midterm elections, the fear is also growing about the image of a weak party that constantly folds and gets run over.
Polls show great dissatisfaction among Democratic voters themselves, not least with the inability to take the fight with Trump. But the Democrats see an area of conflict where they have the upper hand: Epstein.
